Tomatoes and Sweetcorn

Ooops, just a few more things that we love about Madison!  Sweetcorn and tomatoes!!

Here I am stuffing my face with home-grown cherry-tomatoes.  Our friend Emily planted some in the back yard while she was living in our house.  They grew like crazy and are making so many tasty fruits!  Yummmmmm!

Trip home

We don't have any pictures from our trip home on August 19 or the first few days back in Madison. Dad was really sick on the plane, and I got barfy in the Madison airport when we landed, so mom didn't have spare hands to mess with the camera!  It was a long trip, but thankfully the plane rides were smooth without any delays.  We landed in the afternoon in Madison, and Luke was there to pick us up with all our luggage.  I hadn't slept on the plane, so I was super tired and fell asleep in the car on the way to our house. I didn't wake up until about 3 am the next day!

Mom and dad say the next few days were a blur because of jetlag and culture shock.  I didn't mind the jetlag too much, since I just woke up to play in the middle of the night when I wasn't sleepy!

Here are a few observations about Europe versus the US:

What we love about Madison:
  1. Our big house and yard
  2. Our kitty, Hazel
  3. Cheese curds
  4. Cheap alcohol (well actually this is just mom and dad)

What we miss about Europe:
  1. Walking everywhere
  2. Trains
  3. Roads without pot-holes
  4. Jamon and chorizo

Saying goodbye to Uppsala part 3

My babysitter Jen came by to say goodbye because tomorrow we leave to go home to Madison. I love her a lot, and wish she could come with us!   We invited her to come visit us someday in Madison.

We made one last trip to Vasapark, to say goodbye to all my favorite playplaces.

There was a pretty rainbow outside our apartment... Sweden's way of saying farewell to us!

Saying goodbye to Uppsala part 2

Feeding the ducks on the shore of the Fyris river one last time!

Peeking at the park!

Saying goodbye to Uppsala

The Celsius house in the background, on Svartbäcksgatan. Note the jordgubbar stand!!

The corner of Svartbäcksgatan and Skolgatan, one block from our apartment.

The Greek restaurant on the river Fyris.

We spent this morning wandering around Uppsala, taking pictures of our favorite places so we won't forget them. We leave to go home on August 19, which is coming up really soon.

Goodbye to Stefan, Petra, Egon, and Ola

Egon and Ola and I had a great time playing with dad!

My favorite spot at Petra and Stefan's house. I love playing with the tealights!

Here I am with Petra and Stefan. They hosted a goodbye BBQ for us. Stefan was mom's host here at Uppsala University. He helped us with so many things! We will miss him and his family a lot.

Caw-caws in Uppsala

Okay, so I'm not in this picture, but there are a bunch of my favorite things in it, so I wanted to post it anyway! You can see the Uppsala cathedral (Domkyrka) in the background, and the big construction crane next to our apartment. The swarm of black things are the ubiquitous black birds they have here... I call them caw-caws. They swarm around by our apartment every night at around 8:00 pm, and I get really excited to watch them!

The last of the jamon

Here I am helping daddy cut up the last of the jamon leg from Spain, to take to our goodbye party. I love love love jamon, and I could eat a whole leg!

Eating my favorite pasta

Yummmmmy pasta with meat sauce!

Our friend Luke comes to visit!

Our friend Luke came to visit from Madison. He was here in Sweden to help give a workshop on sensors and sensor data. He came to Uppsala after the workshop and stayed with us for a few days. We'll be seeing him again really soon, when we head back to Madison!
